A few days ago, my classmates and I were asked by our lecturer to write a comment on a post in her blog entitled "What money means to you"... So...this is my comment...

Yes, money is not everything but with money we can do many good things as well as bad things. But, for me, i take it in a positive way. I believe money can promote betterment in my life. With money i can buy my own laptop to do my work and assignments faster and easier without relying on other people. But i hope we are all striving for good things. The good things might be sadaqah and etc.

Besides, if poor people is forever to be in their condition (not aiming for more)when are they going to improved? Yes, Islam promotes zuhud and encourages us to look for akhirah but Allah never command us to neglect the world... And world means money.

Even in the doa that we used to say after the prayer also means, "Oh my Lord, grant me success in the life on earth and the hereafter..." ***I'm not sure about the real transation but that's what i understand***
That means, u can look for money so that it can bring happiness, honour and power for you in life on earth. However, you must not be blinded by the money and neglect the hereafter.

So, for me... money means a lot to me. With money, I can improve my family’s way of life, I can buy many things that I always wanted (bags, shoes, books, clothes, camera, handphone, laptop and many others) and also I can do some charity to people. However, I strongly agree that money is not everything because money can’t buy the two most important things for muslims such as me which are love and iman. Without love u will not taste true happiness and without iman you will not feel the Greatness of Allah and without both of them your heart will be filled with emptiness.
